Mason bees have emerged

I was starting to worry that the bees weren’t going to “take”. Most of the first ten cocoons I’d put out had emerged but without signs of home making activity and the second ten cocoons were also emerging. I was worrying the males might have all emerged and simply flown the coop. But as of this evening there are only 6 of the 20 cocoons left intact and three (presumed) females coming periodically to and from the house. So it looks like it’s working.

The raspberry and marionberry blossoms are increasingly open and becoming active with bumble bees. I haven’t seen any mason bees on them but they’ll likely be coming with this warmer weather. And hopefully some of those will move into the bee house also.
