Chicks 4 weeks old

The chickens are now four weeks old and continue to grow quickly. I added a little annex onto the brooder box as it was starting to seem crowded.

Progress continues sporadically on the coop and run. Need to get serious and finish it up soon.

The toe straightening seems to be working, though it’s still on-going.

We’ve had one additional minor trouble. Paul gave them some grass to start getting them exposed to some outdoorsy things. They really seemed to like it. One of them ate too much though and got herself clogged up. She was increasingly listless over the course of a couple days, stopped eating and drinking and was crying. Her feathers were all puffed out and she had a weird stance. Turns out she’d been pushing trying to get unclogged. Eventually I saw something hanging on her vent and realized this is what was going on and pulled out about eight inches worth of wadded up partially digested grass and feed that had apparently formed a mass from throat to vent judging by the length. Within an hour she’d perked up and was back to behaving like the rest.
