Prairie Falcon

This bird (maybe 14 inches head to toe) paid our walnut tree a visit. I thought it might be interested in the chickens or a nearby squirrel, but it appeared to be after some little song birds in the end. Based on our native bird guide and comparing with info on the web it appears to be a prairie falcon.

    I’m told this may actually be a Cooper’s Hawk. I can’t tell the difference.
