Our panels produced 173 kWh this month. I don’t actually know what our consumption was, but probably this works out to a production equivalent to something like 25% of our consumption. Not bad for the middle of winter in our rainy, gloomy region.

Great February for solar power in Oregon
Sunday, February 28th, 2010Three megawatt (hours)
Monday, January 11th, 2010Self-produced 77% of electricity consumed in May
Monday, June 1st, 2009The past two weeks were very summery for May in Oregon. But they give us an early idea of what our June/July/August solar production and electricity bill will look like…We’re currently producing electricity at a rate that is roughly 100% of what we’re consuming!
There was more Oregon-typical spring weather in the first half of the month which dragged the average for the month down to “only” 77%.
46% of our electricity home-made in April
Friday, May 1st, 2009The days keep getting longer and more sunny. April here ended with two great days for solar power which meant the month left us having 46% of the electricity we used coming from our PV panels. April 30th we actually produced over 100% of what we consumed.
30% in March
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009The numbers for March are a bit convoluted due to the meter being switched out by PGE half way through the month. When the next bill comes I assume it will show the final value from the old meter. I don’t have that number. It shouldn’t amount to even a 1% difference I’d think given our normal daily consumptions, but from what I do have it looks like 30% of the electricity our household consumed in March was generated on our very own roof.
22.4% of our electricity in February from solar panels
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009Another month and another set of stats off the solar panels: February saw 22.4% of our household consumption coming from the panels. We’ve had rather sunny weather, but it’s amazing how quickly the days become longer this time of year and even on the partly to mostly cloudy days the panels’ production is up notably compared to the shorter days’.
19.33%
Sunday, February 1st, 2009…is the amount of the electricity our household consumed which came from our own solar panels this month. Not too shabby for Portland in January!
Solar panels pass city inspection
Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
It’s been a bit in coming, but earlier this month the data collection module got installed and is spitting out info.
And after a minor hiccup the inspector was back this week and the system got a pass from the city! There’s still an Energy Trust inspection to come tied to their rebate, but things are basically done it looks like.
